Every Bear In The Big Blue house video that we own is completely entertaining as well as educational, and Volume 5 is no different. With help from Tutter, Treelo, Ojo, Pip and Pop, Shadow and Luna, this title keeps toddlers engaged with lively dialogue and catchy songs...and teaches about colors and shapes in the process. In the first episode, a Wagon of a Different Color, Bear decides to embark on a trip to the supermarket, but needs his trusty wagon to help carry his purchases. One hold up -- Ojo has decided to paint the wagon for him, but only has red, blue and yellow paint (and of course, she wants to color the wagon with shades of purple, green and orange, as well). Bear must give Ojo a lesson on how to mix primary colors to create new ones, and therefore teaches his toddler viewers in the process. While Ojo is painting, Bear helps the indecisive Tutter select an outfit to wear from the mouse's colorful closet, also helping to reinforce the names of the basic colors. Shape of a Bear is highlighted with the toe-tapping song "Shape of a Bear" and gives toddlers an amusing and enlightening lesson on basic shapes. While searching for a box that he has promised Tutter, Bear finds his friends around the house, offering great opportunities discuss different shapes. While Ojo is playing with blocks, for example, she shows Bear how she has used basic triangles, rectangles and squares to create a shape that resembles the Big Blue House. Each episode is as fun for parents to watch as toddlers, as the songs and playful characters keep the information lively and interesting. The gentle Bear serves as a friend and teacher to his viewers, and Ojo, Tutter and the others only add to the fun -- so if you're looking for a video that your kids will love to watch (and one that allows you to sneak in a lesson on basic colors and shapes in the meantime), don't miss this one!
