Product Description
This new Step-Up Series volume is a high-yield, systems-based, outline-format review of commonly tested USMLE Step 2 material, including internal medicine subspecialties, required clerkship specialties, and important topics in medical practice. The user-friendly format, with numerous tables, illustrations, and flow charts, allows quick review of a vast body of facts. Coverage of each disorder includes cause, risk factors, history, physical examination, lab studies/radiology, treatment, and complications. "Quick Hit" marginalia highlight facts likely to be tested. "Next Step" marginalia indicate what the clinician must do next after making a diagnosis. A full-color section illustrates classic presentations of dermatologic and other disorders.

5.0 out of 5 stars plain ordinary book, January 25, 2006
i've been a big fan of step up series since the day i studied for step 1. so when comes to step 2 preparation, i have no doubt that this is one of the books that i decide to purchase off the local bookstore. i found out the information presented in this book is okay for broad knowledge and general understanding. when comes to specfic disease management, the book lists many tests under that disease and u have no idea what would be the best initial diagnostic step/or even best management for that particular disease. the book also contains numerous typos and careless mistakes that could be lethal had this book been your only primary study resource. overall, i strongly recommend this book to be used only when u have read blueprint series and decided to gain an overall perspective of what the common dzs are portrayed.

3.0 out of 5 stars Concise, but with many errors, August 5, 2008
By Liliana (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews
I chose this book initially because it was very concise (only 322 pages including index, etc etc) and with only a month to study for Step 2, I wanted concentrate on doing questions. The pros for this book: it is very concise and to the point. It explains each syndrome, basic pathyophys, h&p, and management. It also has some good algorithms and mneumonics. The bad: Many errors and typos. I've been careful not to completely rely on this book for factual data, but write notes in it according to my other references. Also, many syndromes that I thought should have been included are left out (i.e. not a word about hereditary spherocytosis that I could find). Furthermore, outside of the ones we already know about, most of the mneumonics are kind of random, long, and not very useful (i.e. there's a mneumonic to remember what symptoms occur for the flu)

So, if you plan to use this book as a primary study tool, I would not advise it. But, I've found it useful for myself to write notes while doing study questions. Just be careful about the errors/typos.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book is OK for review, but ONLY supplementary to questions!!, January 26, 2009

(REAL NAME)
I used this as a review for Step 2 but truly, USMLE world is the best Qbank for preparing. I dont have ANY ties to USMLE world but Ive used it and the other company's Qbank...World is MUCH better. This book is similar to First Aid, which is what I used for Step 1, but I think it has a better lay out than this book.
