4.0 out of 5 stars Approachable and delicious, February 2, 2009

(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
Aprovecho: A Mexican-American Border Cookbook (Hippocrene Cookbook Library) is an excellent cookbook for anyone wanting to create delicious Mexican-American meals at home. Teresa makes border cooking approachable even for those, like me, who did not grow up anywhere near Mexico. Her recipes reflect deep family traditions and represent the kind of wonderful comfort food one would expect from Mexican-American home cooking. These aren't esoteric recipes involving hard to source ingredient, but doable meals anyone can master. Her approach is so conversational and friendly that it's like having a knowledgable friend cooking along side you in the kitchen.

I also appreciated that she pulled in recipes from prominent members of the El Paso community. The result is a cookbook that is not only a joy to flip through, but contains recipes you will actually make. Highly recommended. For more of her recipes and thoughtful commentary I also recommend her blog at: [...]
