4.0 out of 5 stars Great information, if you don't count the CD, April 28, 2000
By Sumeet Gill (Reston, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This book has become the bible of Access to me. However, I think the CD could have been used in a far better, integrated way. They serve the purpose, but they could have been made far more visual. Don't buy this book if you're expecting an autoload self-running CD tutorial. But if you're looking for a great reference book, and a great learning tool on everything one can do with Access - this is the book to get! I was somewhat oriented to Access before, but not in detail, before I bought this book. I now know stuff off the back of my hand. A very clear index also helps in accessing information. The book starts off with the basic features in Access, and then goes on to explain in detail about building and refining a custom application w/Access. Awesome! Highly recommended. I tried several different books, and settled happily with this. Love, Peace, Light, and Laughter... :)

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR BEGINNERS!, February 6, 2000
By Doug Cowley (Okinawa, Japan) - See all my reviews
This was my first Access book. It required little background knowledge going in. It covers everything from basic concepts to macros, switchboards, and VBA. I was surprised to see the negative review regarding the included CD. I found it very useful for analyzing objects and code. It gave me some great ideas for my own applications. My only complaint was that it could have flowed better. It does skip around from time to time.

Probably the most impressive comment I have is in regards to the author. When I was stuck early on and couldn't find the answer I needed, I emailed the author. He responded within 24 hours with an answer and even sent sample code! It doesn't get better than that.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for a novice, good general purpose applications, November 2, 1999
By Joe Dority (Oklahoma, USA) - See all my reviews
It's layout makes it hard to find what you need when you need it. It does contain a lot of information and touchs on most everything. it doesn't go as deep as I would like. It is a good referance book if you have time surf thru it's confusing index.
