2.0 out of 5 stars There are probably better books on this subject, August 7, 1998
By A Customer
This book is not a good one. I you are looking for a book to help teach beginning Access97 skills, you probably should find something else. The book has no examples for the reader to work with or practice on (no sample files are included with the book). It takes the reader through the design phases of a database called Timekeeper, but it is impossible to figure out exactly what steps are to be followed to create the different objects that comprise the database. Beginners need step-by-step instructions, and this book is not organized enough to provide them. I actually found that some instructions that are given are wrong, and will produce objects that won't function properly. Try "Using Access97" by Roger Jennings, for an alternative to this book (although it is a bit more advanced and exhaustive).

1.0 out of 5 stars A total waste of time and money!, September 23, 1998
By A Customer
The main focus of this book is to explain how to complete every minute task in Access 97 (open a file, save a file, etc). There is not one sentence in this book that explains WHY you are doing something or HOW Access 97 functions. My advice would be to not even consider throwing away your money on this worthless book.
