Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Mastering Cobol is the must-have tutorial/reference for experienced programmers who need to learn Cobol to work with legacy code. There is no other book with this emphasis! The book uses hands-on examples and extensive coding samples to teach the reader how to deal with the key issues facing today's Cobol programmer: mainframe code updates, Year 2000 corrections, Euro currency conversions, Web migration, and more. The book explores the Y2K problem in depth and offers migration and integration strategies for moving existing Cobol code into the 21st century. The CD includes a fully functional copy of the latest Fujitsu Cobol compiler (offered in no other book) and a complete library of sample code.

About the Author
Carol Baroudi, author of the best-selling The Internet for Dummies, has spent eight years developing and supporting COBOL. With the rise of various legacy code crises, she was inspired to write a clear, empowering COBOL book that will equip programmers with the skills they need to solve the problems at hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Indispensable Resource, May 12, 1999
By A Customer
The most comprehensive book on COBOL that I have ever seen. This book is an incredible deal as it contains the latest Fujitsu COBOL compiler. I whole-heartedly recommend this book for intermediate or advanced users (beginners should read an introductory book first).

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for even a COBOL expert, December 11, 2002
By M. Wang "m4fun" (Columbus, OH) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is the best COBOL book I have ever read - clear (concepts, usages), resourceful (you can find everything you need very easily), practical (good examples). It has everything a COBOL expert may need.
