Book Description
They’ll Run…

Dev Shannon loves his job. He makes good money, travels all over, meets interesting people—and drags them off in chains to face justice. Dev is San Diego’s top bounty hunter, and there’s never a shortage of bad guys for him to bring in. Business is always good, and he’s always open for business.

They’ll Hide…

Too bad his latest assignment is personal. Drug kingpin Julio Sanchez has taken out one of Dev’s oldest friends. And before Dev can do anything about it, he’ll have to clear up two other cases: tracking down a doctor’s AWOL family and a poor little rich boy from Seattle. Some quality time with Google (the bail enforcer’s best friend), some moral support from his Siamese cat Futa, and the usual bit of dirty pool should do the trick.

They’ll Wish They Hadn’t.

But Dev knows his most difficult task still lies ahead, and he’s in no mood for any more games. He’ll call in some favors, visit some lowlifes, and then he’ll be ready to hunt his most dangerous quarry. Not for justice, not for money, but for revenge...

5.0 out of 5 stars Tom Clancey's technical detail , Elmore Leonard characters!, May 6, 2004
By Dennis A. Bartlett (Fairfax, Virginia) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Bob Burton probably knows the profession of bail fugitive recovery, popularly known as bounty hunting, better than any other guy in America. This book reflects that fact. Check out his credentials on www.crimsonhit.com! The reader is taken on a series of recovery operations along California's Central Coast and Central Valley, Spain, Andorra, and France as well as a quickie side trip to Big Sky Country, Montana. The only thing that strains credibility is how a guy could cover all this ground, balance and prioritize all these targets, and fork over as many $100 bills without being some kind of starkanovite bounty hunter. Well, Dev Shannon is the guy and he also has time for a few romantic interludes(mostly work connected, however). Burton's narrative gives full play to the the array of techniques, equipment, and smarts which are the tools of the modern bail recovery agent's trade today. Although this is a novel, there is ample factual meat on the fiction framework. Those who delight in the technical detail characteristic of Tom Clancey's novels and straight forward not terribly introspective characters created by Elmore Leonard will have their fill in Burton's dramatis personnae. Another Dev Shannon novel, "Bullet Blues" is coming soon to a book store near you. Bob Burton has enough adventures under his belt that he hopefully will be able to keep a stream of Dev Shannon adventures which will provide enough titles for all the colors in the spectrum. Hope we will see more of that svenska flicka, Sonya Johnson, too. Ya, sure, you betcha, pojka min!

5.0 out of 5 stars Burton, where have you been?, April 9, 2004
I have waited years for a novel like this to come
along. If you have missed the lone-wolf PI-type (or Bounty-
Hunter in this case) by this book.
