About the Author
For over 20 years, Carol Ann Wheeler has been active as a violin soloist, orchestral player, and string teacher in public and private schools. Since 1974 she has produced five fiddle albums and has been a contest fiddle participant and judge, as well as a fiddle workshop teacher. She performed for ten years through Young Audiences of Oregon and Washington, and has traveled and performed in Japan, Canada, and Scotland, as well as in the U.S. Ms. Wheeler has helped perpetuate the fiddle tradition by teaching and performing before thousands. She and her students have won fiddle contests numerous times at the state, regional, and national levels. She taught her own two children to play fiddle at an early age. Both became champion fiddlers and between them they have filled their home with over 200 fiddle contest trophies. Ms. Wheeler is known for being an energetic and enthusiastic performer and for teaching not just notes, but technique and style as well. She is thrilled to be able to to reach out and perpetuate the art of old-time fiddling to an even larger scope of people with her books, CDs and videos through Mel Bay Publications.
