Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review
This bright, colorful cookie book is as much fun to look at as it is to bake from. Glossy photos of Sweet Sugar Plums, Candy Cane Twists, and many other sugary delights will make your taste buds tingle. These recipes are ideal for kids and parents to make together--and many call for icing on top. This messy but creative task is bound to be the best part of the whole cookie process (aside from eating them, of course!). Since Christmas is the main focus of the book, there are several seasonal novelties to create. A cookie advent calendar is sure to make December extra exciting, and a holiday garland will be gobbled up in no time. Every recipe could quite happily be given as a holiday present, so the authors offer terrific advice for wrapping and mailing these fragile gifts. Finally, don't forget to leave some cookies out for Santa--but not too many! --Naomi Gesinger

5.0 out of 5 stars The "Once a Year Baker's Savior", January 10, 2001
By Susan (Denver, CO USA) - See all my reviews
My son (now 8) and I have made cookies for his class' Christmas parties since 1st grade. Each year has been successful, but it has been a struggle to find the right recipes, decorations we loved and/or could duplicate, etc. We stumbled across this book and have found FAME.

The recipes are quick, clear, error-proof, and delicious. The instructions break down the adult part and the child's part. He reads, he sifts & he measures. He pats & he rolls. He pinches & thumbprints, he cuts & he sprinkles.....The doughs handle very well. Decorating is a joy-we both have the opportunity to work that Martha Stewart gene.

The Candy Glass is beautiful and wins raves (a slightly treacherous affair, but well worth it).

One suggestion - ALWAYS SIFT THE FLOUR. One batch was troublesome because I didn't sift the flour.

For our tummies, we adjusted the recipes by substituting 1/2 butter flavored shortening sticks

I shared my book with other Moms this holiday and they loved it too....

5.0 out of 5 stars YUMMY YUM YUM!, November 7, 2001
By Nicole Silcott (Anchorage, Alaska USA) - See all my reviews
I subscribe to the Family Fun magazine which I truly love. When I saw they had a cook book I had to get it as fast as I could point and click. We use the recipes all of the time. It is our weekend project to bake something. I think cooking has so many values that it teaches children. Measuring, fractions, goal setting, completing a project and a great reward. A lot of the recipes I already have but how many different variations can there be? The pictures are great and the ideas I got from this book have made the money well spent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Christmas add-on gift, November 27, 2000
By A Customer
This book makes a wonderful addition to a Christmas basket full of cookies (or a teacher gift or as an add-on to kids cooking set). I have included it in numerous Christmas baskets. It is inexpensive, bright, simple, and wonderful for family cookie making. Also, kids can read and understand the recipies. Add it to a basket of cookies for a wonderful house warming gift, or a hostess gift for holiday parties.
