From Library Journal
In an era where anything Irish seems to be selling, a book on Irish wedding traditions was inevitable. A professional event planner/screenwriter of Irish decent, McMahon-Lichte discusses Irish customs related to courtship, the ceremony, the reception, the honeymoon, and early marriage period. She offers suggestions for incorporating these traditions into modern American weddings and includes examples of Irish music, poetry, and recipes. A short bibliography and list of web sites provide further sources for research. This slim volume is not as extensive as other ethnic wedding guides like Eric Merrill Budd's Scottish Tartan Weddings (Hippocrene, 2000), which has more illustrations, offers a glossary, and addresses same-sex marriages. It will be popular, however, wherever Irish American populations are high and will have a perennial spot on March's Irish Heritage displays.
