Just an FYI that the Left Behind secrets web site has been updated with new videos, some really funny. Enjoy.
11:15 AM PDT, April 2, 2007
Sunday we and the LaHayes visited the famed Brooklyn Tabernacle, always an incredible experience. You have to be there to understand it. A 300-voice choir of largely African-Americans, Hispanics, and a few Caucasians sing at the tops of their lungs while swaying, and it is so moving you can hardly stand it. While there is much repetition (one of my pet peeves), it's not offensive in this setting because the lyrics are aimed at God and don't constantly refer to us (our being there, our bowing, our worshiping, our declaring, etc., etc.) Rather, these lyrics laud the "power in the blood," "the blood will never lose its power," "God He reigns," "Sing unto the Lord a new song, Sing unto the Lord all the earth..."
During the worship time, Pastor Jim Cymbala asked people to come forward if they were trusting the Lord to help them find work, and from all over the 4,100-seat auditorium came hundreds who crowded at the altar to pray.
This is a church made up of a true cross section of New York, people from both ends of the socio-economic spectrum and in-between, and is full of those who really know what it means to have once been down and out, lost, abandoned, forgotten, defeated. They sing through their tears. Wonderful.
We're scheduled to be on Good Morning America tomorrow (Tuesday, April 3), the day Kingdom Come releases.
It would be fun to hear how you respond to these.

You might get a kick out of the following link, a sneak preview to some fun stuff done to coincide with the release next week (Tuesday, April 3) of the last sequel in the Left Behind series, Kingdom Come: The Final Victory. There are some attempts at humor as well as serious stories, and you're getting a peek at these before they are officially posted. I'd love to hear whether you think these will help the cause.
Meawhile, Dr. Tim LaHaye and I will arrive in New York City later today to begin a week-long promotional effort for this last book in our series. He reminded me last night that we met in 1992, and so we have been working together for 15 years (the first book in the series released in September of 1995, so Left Behind is coming up on its 12th anniversary). I reminded him that our relationship has lasted longer than many marriages, though thankfully that is not true in our homes. He and Beverly are coming up on 60 years together, and Dianna and I recently celebrated our 36th.
Anyway, here's the link to the videos.
Later today (Friday, March 30) we are scheduled to appear on the Glenn Beck TV show on CNN (check local listings).
Sunday (April 1) we will sign at Timeless Treasures, bookstore of the famed Brooklyn Tabernacle, 163 Livingston St, Brooklyn NY 11201 (718-852-2667).
On release day, April 3, we're scheduled to appear on Good Morning America (ABC-TV, check local listings).
Later that morning, 9:00 AM (Eastern), we're to be on the Glenn Beck Radio Show.
Also, from New York, we will conduct national radio and TV tours (a fun, grueling, interesting way to be on myriad live radio and TV shows -- one right after the other -- from one location).
The evening of April 3, at 7:00 PM (Eastern), we will have our first booksigning at Christian Supply, 1600 John B. White Blvd., Spartanburg SC 29301 (864-595-0800). If you're in the area, we'd love to see you.
We'll also be signing:
April 4, 7:00 PM at Crossroads Community Church, 7708 NE 78th Street, Vancouver WA 98662 (360-694-6461). Includes 30-minute program.
April 5, 7:30 PM at Parable Christian Store, 883 Marsh Street, San Luis Obispo CA 93401 (805-543-6146)
Dr. LaHaye will be 81 next month, so take advantage of these chances to greet him.
April 7, 10:00 AM at Mardel Christian and Educational Supply, 5964 Barnes Rd, Colorado Springs CO [Jerry only]
A Frustrating Truth
For some reason, I'm finding that a large percentage of people who greet us at signings, etc., and tell us they have read "all the books" actually haven't. They are largely unaware that between books 12 (Glorious Appearing) and 13 (Kingdom Come) we produced three prequels (The Rising, The Regime, and The Rapture).
These need not be read before Kingdom Come (the final sequel), but if you're a Left Behind fan, yo | |
