5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite travel series!, April 14, 1999
By A Customer
A very good guide book if you confine your trip to Dublin only. Almost all of the information is also contained in the Ireland guide, so you might want to spend a few more dollars and get the whole country. Lots of pictures with sections on what to do, where to eat and what to see. A map of the city center in the back of the book and each section of Dublin has suggested walking tours and a "must see" listing. A very informative section of practical information towards the end which gives you tips on taking the bus, how to get from the airport into the city, how to change money, etc. All in all, a very good guidebook for the city of Dublin.

3.0 out of 5 stars Get Eyewitness' Guide to Ireland instead, January 4, 2004
By Jen "buckeyevets" (Bay Village, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews
I bought this book in order to plan a trip to Ireland. I also purchased Ireland by Eyewitness. My advice, unless you are only going to Dublin, buy the Ireland book instead. The Dublin books contents are reproduced verbatim in the Ireland book, plus you get info on the rest of the country as well. Don't get me wrong--it's a good travel guide, but you get more for your money with the Ireland guide.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Pictures... but you're going to need another guide, December 30, 2002
By Kilgora (San Francisco,, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This guidebook is great for its pictures and detailed diagrams of major sites, neighborhoods, and buildings. The book is absolutely filled with brilliant photos that help visitors (especially first time visitors like myself) what the sites look like. It also has photos of practical things such as roadsigns, the euro currency in all denominations, police cars, telephones, and even food. This might seem silly, but it's very helpful to know how to use their telephones and to learn which coins are which before going over there. It has a limited list of places to stay and doesn't go into detail about how to get to all the sites they cover. This is why I think this shouldn't be the only guide you buy if you're planning a trip to Ireland. It is definately one of the ones to buy, however. Another note: if you're like myself, and plan to travel light to Ireland, keep in mind that this book is rather heavy because of the thick, glossy pages - they're great for the pictures, but they'll weigh down your bag. Hope this helps!

2.0 out of 5 stars I hate Eyewitness Travel Guides
Although Eyewitness Travel Guides may offer more visual guidance than other guide books, they are still quite terrible. Maps are difficult to read and information is inconsistent.
