Jay Shaffer is a freelance audio engineer, music composer and sound designer. He has over 20 years experience in the recording industry and has produced and recorded several award winning albums as well as having composed music for films videos and computer games. Considered by many to be an expert on Macintosh audio recording he also administers the Mac Audio Guy Web site, a resource for Mac audio professionals and enthusiast. Gary Rosenzweig has written 10 mass-market books on Macromedia Director and Flash as well as many magazine articles. He owns and runs CleverMedia, a game development company in Denver, Colorado. He has been a Mac user since 1987.

After fooling around with GarageBand for a month I was hoping to find a book of "tricks and tips" to further my exploration. Unfortunately this book isn't it -- it covers just the entry-level instructions I'd already figured out.

Maybe the authors knew more than they're telling, but there's nothing in this book which couldn't be gleaned from reading the help files.

You wanna make noises, NOW, that are as cool as you need 'em to be?
Ask Jay.

He'll guide you past those few little rocks and bumps in GarageBand that might otherwise pop a hole in your Creative Ship...How much memory do I _really_ need? What does that menu _really_ mean? C'mon, I wanna make NOISES!!!

And Jay will let you know. And you will be a noisemaker, and you will no longer be able to blame your parents because they wouldn't let you have an accordion.
