3.0 out of 5 stars Manual is fundamentally flawed as far as Go Live section., February 2, 2006

4 days ago I bought a copy of Using Adobe Creative Suite 2 (Special Ed.)at Borders. I just got a teacher edition of CS 2 and particularly needed help with Go Live to rebuild my website(www.brooksideglassworks.com ). For an expensive book and a trip to Albany, I am really disappointed. I am pretty good at learning from computer manuals but there are major problems with the chapter on GoLive. The most glaring is that there is nothing about using/ forming links. This is fundamental to building a website. HTML is all about links to other pages. I looked in the Index to find only 2 one sentence lines about links(neither about forming them) Then I carefully read and skimmed through the chapters. I found O, zip, nada. Also the writing is stiff and presumes too much knowledge of web building language. A decent computer manual should not be a listing of the parts of a program but an attempt build core knowledge elaborated by in depth information, and to anticipate fundamental difficulties that the learner will encounter and to try to provide solutions and clarity on any given issue. SURE I CAN GO ON-LINE FOR HELP AND USE THE CS2 HELP FILES BUT THERE ARE FEW THINGS AS HELPFUL AS A GOOD MANUAL; UNFORTUNATELY, THIS IS NOT THAT MANUAL, AT LEAST AS FAR AS THE SECTION ON GOLIVE.

The Photoshop section looks pretty good and the Illustrator is ok but the final chapter on Acrobat looks weak, and the Go Live Chapter is so critically lacking in important information that I will be returning the Book to Borders.
