Product Description
This dramatic, interactive DVD WRITING WORKSHOP gives students a challenging reason to write. They learn to quickly take notes from news stories such as a "volcanic eruption", a "daring robbery", and a "wild horse round up." Then, they develop a method to organize their notes and begin to write sentences and paragraphs immediately. The DVD is stopped periodically for students to do brief writing assignments; it's restarted, and they compare their work with an on-screen writing sample. ~~ The THREE PART program uses actual TV news stories to teach: ~~ (1) GENERAL NEWSWRITING TECHNIQUES (Including the 5W's and H) ~ (2) WRITING OPENING PARAGRAPHS (Leads) ~ and (3) WRITING THE BODIES OF NEWS STORIES ~~ By the end of the program, students will have the skills and confidence to tackle writing a complete article that is interesting, clear, concise, and accurate. All the writing skills taught are applicable to almost any writing assignment. First published in 1993. Great for Grades 6 to Adult!
