It's pretty much impossible to go wrong with the MacArthur Commentary Series. Pastor John again has written a volume in his expository style, analyzing each passage contextually as well as at a verse-by-verse level, explaining nuance and greek vocabulary as he goes.

While these books certainly are more expensive than some other commentaries (such as Matthew Henry's Complete Bible Commentary, which is in the public domain), the advances in Biblical scholarship as well as John MacArthur's dedication to the word and his insightful applications make it well worth the money.

I do find it somewhat ironic that the best price for these is a secular source (Amazon) rather than a Christian distributor, but hey, it's a great work at a great price. I can't complain.
