4.0 out of 5 stars There is more!, November 8, 2000
By Sandy Burdick (Plainwell, Mi 49080) - See all my reviews
Dorie has been a very very good friend of mine for the past 15 years. The story of her early life is true and tragic, but the second book, No Place to Cry fills in the blanks in the first book. Dorie, The Girl Nobody Loved was published before anyone wrote autobiographically about sexual abuse. As Dorie has courageously opened these chapters of her life, so has the Lord opened her world wide ministry of speaking. She has been 12 times around the world telling of the sexual abuse, the damage of shame and the way the Lord has brought change in her life by facing the past. I often tell her that her book needs to be renamed, The Woman Everybody Loves. She is loved and is hugged by more people than could ever be counted. She is truly a picture of the grace of God and the fact that He delights in taking what others meant for evil and turning it into good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jesus said, suffer the little children to come unto me., August 4, 1998
By A Customer
This book is about a little girl who was abused and mistreated by the many adults in her life. She came to God as a child and grew in Him despite the horrible rejection that she faced as a child. She became a missionary and suffered even more but it was for the cause of Christ this time. After her missionary life abroad, she came to America with her husband and children and gave talks dealing with her life as a child and a missionary. This book was introduced to me as a child and I have read it many times afterwards. God called me to be a missionary through her writings and the missionary works of others. I too felt that I was a girl nobody loved but God showed me something different-our sufferings are not in vain and that our prayers don't go unanswered.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tragedy a reality, January 8, 2000
By Donna Lloyd (Minnesota, USA) - See all my reviews
This book is reveting! Doris VanStone really takes you into her life and makes you feel the victimization in your soul. Great example of how God can help victims overcome the post-traumatic stress that is very real in their conscious and unconscious mind.
