Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly
This ingenious and perplexing mystery set in San Francisco pits two able heroines against a clan of devious gypsies. Private investigator Aileen Douglass, usually tough and shrewd, is so charmed and conned by the handsome young gypsy, Nick, that she offers him refuge in her home after his sister shoots him. While sheltering Nick, Aileen is informed by the police that her client Mr. MacMurray has been murdered. MacMurray had hired Aileen and her partner Sharon to find his missing fiancee Nancy Thompson. After their office and homes are ransacked, Sharon drugged and another attempt made on Nick's life, Aileen and Sharon are thunderstruck to discover that Nancy Thompson and Nick are very much connected. The two personable investigators brace themselves for the unexpected and find it in wild auto chases and a violent, bloody finale.

From Library Journal
This insubstantial though likeable work puts two female San Francisco investigators at the mercy of a family of wayward and crooked Gypsies. When someone murders their only client, feisty Aileen Douglass and beauteous Sharon Atwood hasten to find the killer. Narrator Aileen, already precipitously involved with a dangerously attractive but rather dense young Gypsy, uncovers his connection with the caseactually a Gypsy con game. Nothing serious or ponderous here, just a smoothly written romp around the bay and into Golden Gate Park. REK
