Review
"This book is designed for an audience of American students and practitioners. However, readers from other countries might also appreciate the discussion on the continuum of services and the excellent examples of best practices, which provide many ideas for program development and delivery." Product Description
In the United States there is a revolution under way in how `aging' services and programmes are provided for older adults. The public programmes from the welfare state of the 60s and 70s are being replaced with a mixture of public//private services that are often very different from one community to the next. Professionals providing such services need to think and act entreprenuerially and need to be innovative and creative in how they `package' programmes together for their elderly constituents.
Informed by theory, research and their own experience working with older adults, the authors provide realistic case studies of individuals and communities and describe model programmes and services for working with the elderly in a time of change.
