5.0 out of 5 stars Handy, Concise Guide on Evangelism and Assimilation, October 1, 2004
By David R. Bess (Charleston, WV) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
I read this book as a pastor seeking a simple, church health resource for members of my congregation. Having determined our need for greater evangelism and assimilation, we needed a concise blueprint to help us build the ministry framework. McIntosh and Martin here offer an excellent volume that describes five stages of evangelism and five stages of assimilation.

The beauty of this book is its simplicity. The points are very easy to follow, and the many diagrams give the concepts added clarity. I'm pleased with what I have found here, and recommend it highly.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Ecumenical and Professing Christians Guide to Riches, July 8, 2009
By Herb J. Spence (Redondo Beach CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book and its authors will never do for fundamental Bible believing Christians, but for the unsaved of "Churchianity" they may be able to build a large well moneyed congregation with these techniques. As Christian we are to measure all these things against the Bible and keep that what is good so please do not be offended by me.

I picked up this book while looking for missions training from a BBFI "Baptist Bible Fellowship International" recommended curriculum intended for missions training. Something is amiss with these people as Christian believers, and they exercise zero discernment on which they draw evangelical techniques from.

The book focuses heavily on ecumenical professing Christians like Bill Bright founder of Campus Crusade for Christ and a former member of CNP a Sun Yung Moon funded organization.

The authors' admire Billy Graham who is a Christ denier, a 33 degree Free Mason and extremely ecumenical. Yes these things are true! Please Google such references and see the information other Christians have on these subjects. (Sorry, that is off topic, but it is controversial, needs clarification for those who are not aware of this, and as Christians we need not shrink form controversy if it is truth.)

The authors draw from C. Peter Wagner who is infamous for his false "signs and wonders" movement and extra-biblical spirituality learned at Fuller Theological Seminary he was involved with the apostate Vineyard movement in Anaheim California.

The authors draw from Bruce Larson co-pastor of 33degree mason Robert Schuller's Chrystal Cathedral. Larson once called the anti Christian Carl Jung one of his heroes.

A final word regarding Glen Martin's church building skills. This is just and outside observation having never attended the Community Baptist Church of Manhattan Beach nor have I met Dr. Glen Martin, but I live less than a mile form his church and noticed a few usual things. I know that is not too substantial a statement;

But...Possible compromise: the Community Baptist Church started in 1905 and a few years ago they changed the name to "Journey of Faith" maybe the people if Manhattan Beach don't like that "preachy" word Baptist or Church so "Journey of Faith" is much friendlier to the good people here in the South Bay area. Also the Christian Church generally converts people from the bottom of society the poor and that is why they work in maintenance type jobs at Church, but Journey of Faith had a labor dispute this spring 2009 and had their black workers striking against unfair labor practices of the church. I just do not see that happening at a sound Bible believing church that is soul winning.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good
