I purchased a number of books on recruiting and managing volunteers, both in religious and secular sectors. I actually left this one for last, to be honest, because the book looked so old and uninviting. It was written in the 80s and I was looking for something that I thought would be more contemporary. I found the book to deal with exactly the same issues that I see in the church today and was surprised at how helpful this text has been to me. (I know, I know, 20 years is not too long ago and these issues are timeless in a sense...guess I'm a sucker for marketing)

The quick summary is that out of all the books I've read on the subject, I'd put this one at the top of my list. Five stars.
