Product Description

In traditional Chinese medicine, oranges are known to weaken your immune system, bananas cause fatigue, and yogurt doesn't help weight loss. The ancient Five Element Diet (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) describes the foods and preparation methods best suited to each element, the parts of your body most affected, and the healing forces unleashed with each dish. Your eating habits will change simply because you know more about the effects of foods on long life, love, sexual capacity, and prosperity. In traditional Chinese medicine, oranges are known to weaken your immune system, bananas cause fatigue, and yogurt doesn't help weight loss. 4.0 out of 5 stars informative, February 10, 2007
I found this book to be very informative; Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a different approach but arrives at many same dietary fixes as our modern medical. For example when my father-in-law had kidney failure they told him to eat only 2oz. of meat per day. This book recommends 2 Tbsp per meal. I also learned shocking information about health and nutrition that I could apply to improve my health. (I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.) This is a great read for anyone wanting to improve their health and step out of the box to do it. It does not recommend that you HAVE to eat any different foods than you are right now; its just the order and seasons in which you cook and eat them and it also depends on what ailments you have. I found this book to be very useful. The only reason it did not get 5 stars was because some parts were just a little hard to follow. This could be that it is about oriental medicine and culture and was originally written for a German audience.
