Editorial Reviews
From Library Journal
As the personification of a fantasy figure in many legends, Santa Claus is depicted sometimes as a roly-poly gentleman and sometimes as a slender spirit. The Santa projects in this book by many artists using a great variety of media make it possible to create Santa in all his guises. There are needlepoint ornaments, a pine cone doll, and Santas in papier-mache, wood, and polymer clay, as well as step-by-step instructions and patterns for all the projects. Especially valuable for the variety of materials used.

From Booklist
It is impossible, once Dierks' careful compilation of crafts has been thoroughly perused, to think of a home space or place that Saint Nick hasn't adorned. It is also difficult, for that matter, to think of any popular craft not used by one or several of the 34 contributing artist-designers. Obviously, Santa Claus appears here in a variety of guises, from funky star-surfer mobile to a stern Victorian carved statue, on an embroidery-encrusted jacket or on an elegant serving apron. But what may not be as clear is the high quality of the 52 projects. Not one even remotely resembles a loving-hands endeavor. Nor do any require a Ph.D. to decode instructions (though more than a few do require some practice and occasionally considerable skill). Every one of the 52 patterns features a color photograph, directions, and charts and graphs (when needed); not once, however, includes the basics of the craft involved--woodworking, stitchery, papier-mache, etc. Barbara Jacobs
