Book Description
Beginning in the nineteenth century, after finally gaining access to the links, women have played an important role in the history of golf. From the days of playing with a high, stiff collar, through the early LPGA years, and into the modern era of international stars, women have shaped a golf heritage that is uniquely their own. In the Women's Clubhouse is a fascinating collection of revealing personal stories that presents more than a century of golf tradition from the woman's perspective. In this book, Glenna Collett describes playing in her first national championship; Babe Didrikson Zaharias recounts how she became the first American to win the Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship; Marion Hollins gives her views on course design, which helped shape the Cypress Point Club; and Helen Alfredsson explains how to conquer the inhibition of playing golf with the opposite sex.
