From Booklist
Mitchell's advice column on manners for children and teens published in the Philadelphia Inquirer evolved from a class she taught in an urban school. The class, in turn, evolved from her business-etiquette consulting. This book is directed at yet another audience--parents. The letters that kids sent in to the Inquirer column were organized by Mitchell into a topical arrangement, and each selection is preceded by a passage of advice for their parents. The "why" of etiquette is explained along with the appropriate behavior for all occasions, including school, dates, family dining, and more. Mitchell's basic emphasis on respect for one's self and others makes this a user-friendly, sensible guide for families. Denise Perry Donavin
