Born in Iowa just after WWI, signed to the Cleveland Indians at age 16 and inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962, Feller now presents the accumulated lessons and memories from a life of hard work, great success and sincere enjoyment. With much attention devoted to other leading lights of the sport, this loving chronicle will please baseball fans of all ages.

Many libraries may already have Feller's autobiography, Now Pitching, Bob Feller (1990), but this book would still be a worthy addition. "Rapid Robert" has always had plenty of sharp-witted opinions. This volume is divided into short, easily digestible sections, and Feller writes tellingly of the stars of his generation. He really shines when talking about his father and how the old man, eager to showcase his son's baseball talent, built a "field of dreams" on their Iowa farm when Feller was still a teen. Recommended.
