From Booklist
Concentrating on the modern period (that is, since 1800), this title in the publisher's Historical Dictionaries of Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East series provides a chronology, A-Z entries, and a lengthy bibliography. The decade since the first edition was published has seen moves toward more normal relations with the U.S., followed by the growth of Iran's nuclear weapons program, George W. Bush's labeling of Iran as part of "The Axis of Evil," and the election of Mahmud Ahmadinejad as president. The new edition has almost twice as many entries as the first, including several related to Iranian cinema.
