Editorial Reviews

Product Description

Rescuing injured wildlife requires careful preparation to ensure the safety of both the rescuer and the animal. This informative guide teaches would-be rescuers how to identify an animal in need, capture that animal, and safely transport it to a wildlife rehabilitator. Real-life animal rescue stories provide insight into the triumphs and risks of wildlife rehabilitation. It explains: exactly what to do, and what not to do, when you find an animal in distress; and, how to determine the status of an injured creature using easy-to-follow flow charts. It presents instructions on safe-capture methods, emergency care, transportation, and finding a professional wildlife rehabilitator.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE BOOK!, September 21, 2009
By Candice A. Lapachinsky (Northeastern, Pennsylvania) - See all my reviews

Finally! A book to help anyone who may or has had to help bunnies, squirrels etc.. This book is so easy to use anyone can navigate through it and find out what you need or don't need to do with baby's and adult animals in the wild. I have come across a lot of animals, baby's mostly..squirrel, bunnies, canadian gosling and I wish I had this book back then. Anyone who loves and cares about the welfare of any wild animal will benefit from this great book. It's compact enough to keep with you in the car and the price is reasonable that you can get more than one copy and keep one in the house. The information provided in this book is excellent. I also was felt confident with what I read knowing the author has extensive experience in this field and is a highly recognized member within her field. I have shared everything I have read with everyone a I come in contact with because the information is so fascinating! I love this book and I love the stories that the author has interjected throughout. They make you smile and laugh and also touch your heart! A must read!

5.0 out of 5 stars The FIRST and ONLY guide of its kind!, July 25, 2009

What a wonderful and relevant publication...one that was long-overdue and written for the general public! This field guide belongs in your home and in your car--for times when you spot a wild animal in distress.
In it you will find information helping to identify a true emergency and how you can help--SAFELY! It will help you evaluate when to NOT intervene and when to simply return the baby to its rightful parents. Anyone who is animal welfare oriented or conservation-minded, as well as ANY lover of wildlife and nature should GET THIS BOOK!!!
