Product Description
Emily may be odd, but she always gets even!

Meet Emily, the peculiar soul with long black hair, a wit of fire, and a posse of slightly sinister black cats. Famous for her barbed commentary and independent spirit, this rebel-child in black has spawned an Internet and merchandising phenomenon (Emily's Web site gets 35,000 hits per month!). Emily the Strange, her first book, captures the quintessential Emily, featuring her most beloved quips and a host of new ones. Anarchist, heroine, survivor, this little girl with a big personality appeals to the odd child in us all.

About the Author
Emily the Strange is created by Rob Reger and his company, Cosmic Debris, Inc., based in San Francisco.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emily: The Strange is The Best!, August 27, 2001
By Hillary "jezebelxiii" (abington, ma United States) - See all my reviews
Emily: The Strange is a great little book! I randomly picked it up because I thought the cover art was catchy looking, and I was not disappointed at ALL! Emily: The Strange is about an atypical little girl who sees and hears things that other people only have nightmares about - however, instead of being frightened or wary of these things, she enjoys them. She's a little creepy (Addam's Family style) but very very funny and interesting overall. I believe that both kids and adults will have a hoot over Emily's bizarre (and a tad bit macabre) outlook on things. In my opinion, this little charm is creatively written and beautiful to look at . . . Cosmic Debris does some very interesting artwork and the use of the 3 colors red white and black is really neat. There are many fun things hidden within each picture, too, which encourages the reader to really examine each page to find something spooky or comical. I hope to see more things by this outfit in the future, because Emily: The Strange was too much fun! Happy Reading!

4.0 out of 5 stars A wonderfully demented little coffee table book, August 10, 2002
By Emily McMahon (Des Moines, IA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
As an Emily (obviously) who has had multiple black cats in my lifetime, I was immediately drawn to this darkly funny little book. I think Emily's individualism and uniqueness stand out above her vaguely sinister actions; she is simply a girl refuses to live her life as expected. It's a wonderful gift book for any teenage or adult Emilys - or anyone with the spirit of Emily the Strange.

5.0 out of 5 stars To kid or not to kid, December 3, 2003
My daughter (Emily) is a healthy 7-year-old. I bought her this book, and had a look at it before I gave it to her. I thought it was a little dark, a little bit left of centre, but ultimately harmless. Maybe if you're Ned Flanders from the Simpsons, you would have a moral issue or two. Otherwise, this is fine. Emily loves this book - it appealed to her sense of identity in general - she felt special because of it, that it wasn't something that could be taken on by just anyone unless they too were called Emily. And she hasn't harmed any boy, dog, parent or herself since first reading it a year ago. She remains an upbeat, unique, and happy 7-year-old with a wonderfully skewed take on the world, much like the eponymous Emily the Strange.
