My 6 year old son liked reading it. He started to learn to read 6 months ago, and this seemed like the correct level. He thought it was really funny and wanted to read it the next day. I liked that there were new visual details that you pick up each time you read it.

This book is part of a 35 book series called Get Ready, Get Set, Read. There are 5 levels. The first two levels introduce short vowel sounds. The other three levels tackle long vowels and other word families. This is a great, systematic approach to reading. And the stories are fun!

One feature we really like is the word list in the back of each book. We use these lists to make flashcards. (Cheap hint - use computer-generated labels and plain index cards to make your own flashcards.)

I recommend buying the entire series.
