". . . the accumulation of carefully researched detail will impress those with an open mind." -- PUBLISHERS WEEKLY --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Product Description

If you were beginning to believe that "lone nut" Lee Harvey Oswald did kill President Kennedy all by himself, this could be the book to convince you, that there was indeed a conspiracy and a cover-up. The contributors worked independently at first, and were drawn together by a shared outrage at statements on the assassination made in the "Journal of the American Medical Association" in 1992. They explain their evidence and reasoning in easily understandable language, and present insights on the physical evidence, the autopsy findings, the bullet trajectories, the interpretation of numerous eye-witness accounts, and the misleading logic of the official lone nut theorists. Among their conclusions are: crucial autopsy x-rays of JFK's skull have been fabricated; the official "magic bullet" theory is anatomically and ballistically impossible; autopsy pictures of the brain alleged to be JFK's are of someone else's brain; Kennedy was hit at least four times, and a minimum of six bullets were fired in Dealey Plaza that day; and new evidence indicates the Warren Commission inquiry was a political charade based on selected and manufactured evidence.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best book on the JFK Assasination, I've ever read, May 20, 2000
By Stephen C. Coyle (Los Angeles, CA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Since before I was born, many Americans have believed that there was a cover-up in relation to the assasination of John F Kennedy. Many believed that the Warren Commision was a white-wash that refused to investigate any possibilty other than the possibility that Lee H. Oswald was a lone assasian who acted on his own in killing former President Kennedy. This book prooves beyond a shadow of doubt that Oswald could NOT have killed Kennedy. It also shows that those in the federal government tampered with evidence and even manufactured evidence to implicate Oswald. It prooves that the fatal shot that killed the President came from IN FRONT of the limosine the President was riding in. It also sites 15 instances of complicity by the Secret Service in JFK's murder. It also proves that there were a MINIMUM of 6 shots fired at JFK and the limosine that he was riding in. It shows how Arlen Specter and other members of the Warren Commision bent over backwards to not arrive at the truth in their investigation. It shows how Doctors who were in the trauma room and worked on President Kennedy's gunshot wounds have been hounded and persecuted for telling what they know and not agreeing with the official line on Kennedy's assasination. Medical experts (including those who saw Kennedy's gunshot wounds) explain exactly what happened to the President. Experts on Photography and Cinematography explain who the Zapruder film was edited, experts on radiology explain how x-rays were altered. Witnesses who actually witnessed the shooting were interviewed. The whole thing is very professional and exhaustively researched. The only complaint I have about the book is that it reads like a series of investigative reports published by experts for experts. I'm just a common layman. I don't need to hear the smae piece of evidence proven again and again and again to be correct. I don't need to hear every single argument the opposition has ever made to be disproven. In many ways the book is as dry and uninteresting as a courtroom trial. However if you can get past the stiff, dry, scholarly approach these experts have taken in their writings you will find some very fascinating and revealing information that the government doesn't want you to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best undiscovered book of the last decade, May 25, 2000
By A Customer
The most important aspect of this work is the background of its author. Professor Fetzer's credentials are extraordinary. He is a recognized expert in the philosophy of science field. His scholarly work on "critical thinking" is widely acknowledged as brilliant. His application of those skills to the JFK assassination is the first of its kind. His conclusions are only far-fetched and bizarre if you believe that the rigorous application of scientific principles is useless. Buy the book and read it carefully. It is shocking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Emphasis on 'Science' : Think or Get out of the Kitchen!, May 10, 2004
By Sarah Asher (Lexington, KY USA) - See all my reviews
The Thinking Man's Warren Report...

Fetzer's collation of articles by meticulous JFK assassination researchers is fascinating, technical, rigorous and compelling. If you want someone to make it simple for you, go elsewhere. On the other hand, if you are a serious, data-driven JFK buff, this book is a gold mine. The evidence presented was authoritative and convincing - especially the discussion of the optical density data on the autopsy X-rays and the minute analysis of the Zabruder film. (I dug out my Life photos of the Zabruder film, for instance, and was floored to realize that several glaring inconsistancies were right in front of me, all along...)

There is no particular effort to answer the 'Who Dunnit?' - except to add enormous credence to the premise that the American government agencies, FBI SS, CIA, military, etc., must have participated, at least on some level.

As one with a long-standing fascination on the role of scientists in the philosophical quest for knowledge,(while at the same time being a shameless physics junkie), I especially appreciated Fetzer's contributions(and other's), on logical fallacy, the nature of proof, and the pitfalls of researching outside a cohesive scientific community.

I realize that Fetzer has an axe to grind with JAMA, but having cut my conspiracy teeth on Crenshaw's JFK, Conspiracy of Silence, I felt that axe needed the work. Were I a physician, I'd quit the AMA over their treatment of Crenshaw.

The book contains invaluable references to other responsible works on the assassination, providing if not a roadmap, at least a starting point in the wilderness; there are thousands of volumes on this highly popular subject, so this is no small favor.

All in all, the book lives up to its title. I am still reeling from the final chapters!
