Emphasis on 'Science' : Think or Get out of the Kitchen!, May 10, 2004
The Thinking Man's Warren Report...Fetzer's collation of articles by meticulous JFK assassination researchers is fascinating, technical, rigorous and compelling. If you want someone to make it simple for you, go elsewhere. On the other hand, if you are a serious, data-driven JFK buff, this book is a gold mine. The evidence presented was authoritative and convincing - especially the discussion of the optical density data on the autopsy X-rays and the minute analysis of the Zabruder film. (I dug out my Life photos of the Zabruder film, for instance, and was floored to realize that several glaring inconsistancies were right in front of me, all along...) There is no particular effort to answer the 'Who Dunnit?' - except to add enormous credence to the premise that the American government agencies, FBI SS, CIA, military, etc., must have participated, at least on some level. As one with a long-standing fascination on the role of scientists in the philosophical quest for knowledge,(while at the same time being a shameless physics junkie), I especially appreciated Fetzer's contributions(and other's), on logical fallacy, the nature of proof, and the pitfalls of researching outside a cohesive scientific community. I realize that Fetzer has an axe to grind with JAMA, but having cut my conspiracy teeth on Crenshaw's JFK, Conspiracy of Silence, I felt that axe needed the work. Were I a physician, I'd quit the AMA over their treatment of Crenshaw. The book contains invaluable references to other responsible works on the assassination, providing if not a roadmap, at least a starting point in the wilderness; there are thousands of volumes on this highly popular subject, so this is no small favor. All in all, the book lives up to its title. I am still reeling from the final chapters!
