Amazon.com Review
First-time homebuyers have a guide specifically tailored to their needs in
10 Steps to Home Ownership. Author Ilyce R. Glink writes reassuringly for those who are new to the often-confusing world of real estate. Her book is full of worksheets, allowing readers to pencil out solutions to home buying's many riddles: How big a mortgage can you qualify for? How much money will you need at closing? This book,
10 Steps to Home Ownership, can help readers who find themselves dreaming of home ownership but are too bewildered to take the first steps.

The strength of Glink's (100 Questions for the Homeseller, Random, 1995) book is how it deals with the emotional aspects of buying a home. It covers ten important items in the process, among them the decision to rent or to buy, how much house you can afford, acquiring money for a down payment, and building credit. The book is full of worksheets and checklists that help make home-buying decisions easier. Appendixes include loan amortization tables, a list of the five financial and emotional mistakes home buyers make, and a glossary of commonly used real estate terms. The chapter on deciding where to live includes a worksheet on determining, and then prioritizing, what features you want in your dream house. All those buying their first homes would profit from this easy-to-follow book. Recommended for most public libraries.
