4.0 out of 5 stars Required reading for an understanding of modern society, August 22, 1999
By A Customer
This is a terrific book, comprised of various essays, written in a very succint, enjoyable, and always enlightening manner. Dr. Lichtman is one of the most articulate and compelling radical philosophers currently out there. I've taken a class with him at San Francisco State University, and his knowledge is at least as vast as that of Herbert Marcuse, for those of you familiar to radical philosophers. This collection is absolutely necessary for working towards an understanding of the modern social order, covering such topics as class, alienation, reification, and revolution. This book is especially recommended to those who seek an introductory/intermediate text on Marxist philosophy.
