Sheila Bridges, president of Sheila Bridges Design Inc. is an interior designer whose goal is to create high-end, residential spaces that are thought-evoking and visually interesting while also comfortable and livable. Her understated style is culturally classic, as she creates visually provocative and rich interiors with an elegant simplicity. It is her goal as an interior design professional to introduce a new generation of clients to the value of good design and the importance of interior environments that are reflective of their own cultural history. Her clients include many prominent entertainers, entrepreneurs and business professionals. Sheila Bridges has been featured in various publications such as Black Enterprise, Elle Décor, Harper's Bazaar, Homestyle, House Beautiful, House & Garden, Martha Stewart Living, New York Daily News, New York Newsday, New York Post, New York Times, Town & Country, The Philadelphia Inquirer Magazine, Savoy, Time Magazine, Vanity Fair, Victoria, USA Weekend and The Wall Street Journal. Originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Sheila Bridges moved to New York City in 1986. She has also lived and worked in Italy while studying Decorative Arts at Polimoda in Florence. Sheila Bridges holds degrees from both Brown University and Parsons School of Design. Sheila's immediate vision for Sheila Bridges Design, Inc. includes the continued growth of her design business, while also writing a series of design/lifestyle books. The first, Furnishing Forward: A Practical Guide to Furnishing for a Lifetime is an informative guide for young people in their twenties and thirties who want to learn how to purchase furniture for their first "real" homes. Published by Little, Brown & Company, "Furnishing Forward" is slated to be in stores Spring 2002. An animal lover, Sheila has a Jack Russell named Dolby and a Quarter horse named Red. Her hobbies include snowboarding, horseback riding, reading, tennis and just about anything outdoors.
