From School Library Journal
Gr 7 Up-A title aimed at young adults considering a career in one of the many aspects of the beauty industry. Lytle takes a serious approach, clearly outlining the education and licensing process that is required of everyone but the salon receptionist. Advice on choosing a school or training program is accompanied by solid guidance on finding a job, including applications and r sum s. A particularly interesting section introduces a number of "pros" working in the field, ranging from tiny salons to the show-business industry. Curiously, for a book whose subject is largely physical appearances, there is not a single photo or illustration to add visual appeal to the pages. Jeanne M. Strazzabosco's Choosing a Career in Cosmetology (Rosen, 1996; o.p.) is another strong title, and it has full-color and black-and-white photos.-Joyce Adams Burner, Hillcrest Library, Prairie Village, KS
