Editorial Reviews

Product Description
This introductory text covers basic electronics and the behavior of passive components, circuit analysis and systematic troubleshooting. The analytical methods used are strongly based on Ohm's and Kirchoff's Laws. Mathematics are used for analysis, but only after a solid, intuitive understanding of circuit or device operation has been established. With a heavy emphasis on critical thinking over rote memorization, and the coverage of state of the art technology, this text truly prepares students to use and apply the knowledge they acquire. 2.0 out of 5 stars Good only for beginners, March 10, 2006
By Chethan (India) - See all my reviews
This book is in a very detailed form explaining in simple english with colourful diagrams. It deals with resistors, capacitors and inductors and the way they are connected to form RC,RL and RLC circuits. It also throws some light on kirchoff's current and voltage law, but doesnt deal anything with network theorems which help you in simplifying the circuit. This book is basically for beginners and not for someone who is looking indepth knowledge on circuit theory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb!!, March 12, 2008
This text provides the necessary material for the budding technician and it is stated in the title to be viewed as base material, you know, a foundation. Excellent coverage of concepts described succinctly to perfection. Could not ask for any more. This is an American's point of view on a book that was written in America. You know, as a person whom delves into the English Language on a daily basis, it is an absolute necessity that one be able to recognize conceptual relevancy when given the opportunity to critique another's work. If it is great for it's intended purpose, why cut it down for something it ain't?

Most importantly this text provides awesome explanations, clear examples, steady practice material, and the renown and super "Technician's Challenge" that demarcates a full and wholesome knowledge 'base' that will endure, inspire, and challenge you.
