2.0 out of 5 stars They didn't even bother to include a switch, July 16, 2003
By A Customer
I purchased this kit because I had previously purchased their Fun With Computer Electronics and really liked it. Fun with Computer Electronics is a MUCH better kit than this one. When you build the projects, instead of including even a cheap key-switch in the kit, you get to use a wire lead and touch a spring as a switch for the projects. A switch is one of the most basic electronic devices. How cheap is it not to include one. My other complaint is the explanations do not give kids enough credit. They are very simplistic. When trying to understand the various circuits, they often left me wanting for a better explanation. The kit does have the following good points. It is easy to put together and does contain good quality components. It also has good instructions for assembly and each project. Each project includes a real schematic drawing. Still, the Radio Shack XXX-in-1 kits are a much better value for your money and almost all of them have much better written manuals. This same company publishes a kit called Fun with Computer Electronics and it is a more innovative kit. Get that one, it will make your child think and want to strike out on their own. The projects are really fun and neat and the manual is much better. Guess what! It even includes a cheap key switch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Entertaining, & Fun! book =), July 10, 2001
This is a great book, full of cute humor & fun.

Has springs that make experimenting easy to work with. It comes with a sturdy cardboard box to preform all your experiments on.

Even if you leave it on the floor and step on the box (Like most kids do)it can be redone using a sturdy software box and a photocopy machine or scanner.

Comes with everything (in a hard plastic storage case) needed to do all the experiments.

No mad dashes to Radio Shock or the local electronics store.

It Really has a lot of cool projects!

The great circuts provide a great launching pad and gives your little mad scientist Ideas to invent or use the circuts in other neat things!.

For the more technical moms/dads out there it has schematic diagrams of all the projects.

This is an excellent book for any age from 12 - 100+

I recived this as a gift when I was about 15.

I recently pulled it out and used it again for a College Electronics course and I am now 21 and still using this book and still enjoying it. I discover something new and creative about this book everytime I look at it.

Book Uses:

Resistor Color codes, Using Audio (Piezo transducer) Transistors, Photocells, (Phototransistors) Capacitors, Transformer, Frequency, (2 types of radios to build) (If you have a frequency generator you can pick up a frequency on a radio you can build)

Very easy to read format, I have a learning disability and found this easy to understand and very hands on!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun With Electronics : Build 25 Amazing Electronic Projects!, December 10, 2001
By A Customer
I found that all experiments worked with parts included in the "workbench". I did not have to purchase extra parts. I first used this when my daughters were 7 and 8 (a little early). They pulled it out when science project time came around and the box still worked! Excellent introduction to electronics for family project or individual project.
