5.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly a "children's" book, June 26, 2000
By A Customer
An avid fan of the Serendipity series, I must confess that this book is not truly a children's book. The illustrations and storyline are keeping with the true Serendipity tradition, and it is a great addition if you already have most of the others, but the moral is intended more for adults, illustrating that you must take care of yourself in order to care for your child. You may wish to use it to show your children how much work and love you put forth into their upbringing, however.

1.0 out of 5 stars not satisfied with story, April 22, 2008
By Will's Mom (East Coast, USA) - See all my reviews
As the mother of a three year-old boy, I frequently read Serendipity books. My son loves most books by Cosgrove. I recently ordered this book and was extremely surprised by the message. This book is not appropriate for a young child. The pink bird (Frazzle) eats too much and becomes overweight. The book refers to her as fat and lazy and other birds make fun of her. It isn't until she loses weight that the other birds accept her and she is able to become a "good mother". WOW! What message is this sending? Sure, everyone should be healthy, but what about accepting people for who they are? I threw this book away.

However, I am VERY satisfied with other Cosgrove books. The Muffin Dragon is wonderful, as is Zippity Zoom and Serendipity (and many others). I would stick to other Cosgrove books and leave Frazzle out of your collection.
