From Library Journal
There is no shortage of excellent guidebooks to Bali. Probably the most used by independent travelers is Lonely Planet's Bali & Lombok (1994. 5th ed.), which balances background information and practical advice. Visually and for interpretation, the APA Insight Guides' Bali (LJ 1/93) is tough to beat, but its binding doesn't stand up to heavy library circulation. Now Passport's Bali, also issued in the Periplus Editions series, is another strong contender, with a good mix of historical and cultural information along with accommodation recommendations. Competition makes all these guidebooks become better, and libraries are best off rotating among the most current editions available.?Harold M. Otness, Southern Oregon State Coll. Lib., Ashland
