Product Description
Although stalking is an age-old phenomenon, it is only recently receiving due attention. In a span of just ten years, all fifty states have passed anti-stalking legislation. For the first time, Stalking Crimes and Victim Protection: Prevention, Intervention, Threat Assessment, and Case Management brings together in one source all the research done by professionals in various fields since 1990. It covers all the angles, from the psychological aspects of stalkers to the legal ramifications of stalking. This comprehensive work emphasizes a multidisciplinary concept and approach. It compiles and assesses studies of law enforcement, legal counsel, medical professionals, forensic mental health professionals, security personnel, and criminologists. These authors combine their academic research and clinical knowledge to provide you with helpful guidelines and suggestions in the areas of victim assistance and predatory stalking including:oInterventionoPrevention educationoRisk analysisoThreat assessmentoCase management. Editor Joseph A. Davis, Ph.D., a nationally recognized expert in the field of public safety psychology, with a background in both psychology and law, has assembled a team of experienced professionals who have contributed to this comprehensive text, which educates, informs, and raises public awareness of this growing phenomenon. Including several case examples for study and clinical-forensic comparison, Stalking Crimes and Victim Protection will help you provide better services to victims, evaluate the mental state of the stalker, provide assessments of potential threat, and consult on security issues, case management, and safety planning.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stalking Crimes and Victim Protection by Dr. J. Davis, Ph.D., September 19, 2001
By A Customer
Stalking Crimes and Victim Protection by Dr. Davis is a welcomed and much needed resource in the field for ANYONE who is currently investigating or managing stalker/stalking cases or providing consultation, threat assessments or mental health counseling services to the workplace and the targeted victim(s) of this crime. Dr. Davis has assembled an outstanding list of nationally recognized experts who approach this crime from a multidisciplinary perspective. In addition, the book not only meticously examines "stalking crimes and victim issues" from a theoretical viewpoint, but also evaluates this crime from both a practical and applied standpoints. As a bonus, the book also provides multiple case studies for clinical comparison. Finally, the editor and contributing authors provide insight into the stalker and provide practical suggestions for investigation, interviewing, threat assessment, and case management. Furthermore, the editor and authors also provide suggestions for safety planning and risk managment. Overall, this book is an excellent resource and handbook for any agency or professional who is actively working cases and providing direct services to targeted victims of this crime.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource!, March 21, 2009
By RCWJ (USA) - See all my reviews
This book is a compilation of numerous well-researched and well-written chapters (papers) on a variety of stalking-related subjects. The chapters are substantive, insightful and useful without being overly academic. This is an excellent resource for anyone involved in the management of stalking cases (as well as for anyone who may be the victim of stalking behavior).

(REAL NAME)
This is a great book. I loved the layout and ordering of the entire thing. It is straight forward and very understandable. The material is fantastic. Very hardcore stuff. Beautiful pictures. I have to say that I didn't expect anything less from my professor. Great Cuyamaca Community College teacher.
