5.0 out of 5 stars The real meaning of Easter, March 23, 2000
By Pam Cook (Granite Bay, CA) - See all my reviews
This is an awesome book. It really drives home the real meaning of Easter & what Jesus did for us. As the author describes the events leading up to the first Easter morning, you feel as if you are there. You feel the excitement & thrill of being in the crowd on Palm Sunday. Your king is arriving. Then he descibes how these feelings change - how gladness turns into jealousy & betrayal. When he describes what happens to the body during an actual crucifixion, I broke into tears & had trouble breathing! This book really drove home for me what the Savior did for me on that cross. I will never look at a cross the same way again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful new look at the Easter story, April 16, 2001
By Mark Baker (Santa Clarita, CA United States) - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
This book is a collection of vignettes about the final week of Jesus. Sigmund Brouwer takes his novelist's eye and creates an engaging new look at the old story, bringing the story to life in a new way.

I also read his full-length novel THE WEEPING CHAMBER at the same time. Many of the vignettes from this book are included in that book, but both books offer original material, too. If you enjoyed this book, get a copy of the other. It is even more powerful then this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Carpenter's Cloth or The Carpenter's Journey , March 7, 2005
This is now reprinted under the title of The Carpenter's Journey to the Cross and Beyond. It is a beautiful work to behold! Coupled with the brilliant paintings from various master artists, the author brings scenes alive as if I am standing in the wings of a stage watching the greatest story enacted. The poignant words to songs written by Cindy Morgan enhance the inspiration of this devotional book. I am delighted to have purshased it.
