Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal
The opening of Tibet to tourism means a need for guidebooks. One is tempted to recommend this title for the stunning photographs alone; but, it must be noted, the text introduces one only to temples, monasteries, and pilgrimage areas. No mention is made of the unique ecological or scenic wonders of Tibet. Further, although there are several maps, none is given of Lhasa, thus denying readers insights into spatial orientation to the capital. Libraries are cautioned that the text in several places advises readers to disregard government rules and regulations. Armchair travelers will like this work and enjoy the illustrations. The traveler to Tibet may have difficulties if relying only on it. Donald Clay Johnson, Univ. of Minnesota Libs., Minneapolis

4.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and beautifully illustrated., June 20, 2000
By A Customer
This book is beautifully illustrated. It contains information that cannot be found in a typical information guide about Tibet. Writer includes the mystique and aura surrounding this mysterious place.
