From Booklist
Ryan's subject is impotence, which afflicts many men, though just how many is open to question. Ryan cites lots of statistics, including claims that 52 percent of men aged 40^-70 and 40 percent of married men in their thirties are impotent, but basically says the problem is widespread and underreported. For most men, relief comes from treatment of physical causes. Ryan explores different treatment options--better lifestyle decisions, drug and natural remedies, surgical options, and prosthetic devices--and explains the fully functioning male system in lay terms. He emphasizes the importance of a healthy lifestyle; eschew drinking, smoking, and stress, he maintains, and impotence may never rear its ugly head. Beyond the education and advice, the crisply written book vends some intriguing male sexuality tidbits; for instance, "the longest medically verified erect penis was 12 inches" (and the late John C. Holmes be damned!), and "the farthest medically recorded distance traveled by an ejaculation is 11.7 inches." Ain't science grand? Mike Tribby
