Product Description

When you draw a heart in the sand, call on the four winds for assistance, or ask the rain to wash away a bad habit, you are practicing earth magic. By working in harmony with nature, we can transform ourselves, our lives, and our world. This tried-and-true guide offers more than one hundred spells, rites, and simple rituals you can perform using the powerful energy of the earth.
• New cover • New interior design

From the Publisher

Here is a new approach to ancient magic. Scott Cunningham, in his gentle, informative way, shares how you can use the most basic of tools - a leaf, a stone, a candle - to become a powerful, self-assured magician.
I really like Cunningham's presentation. He makes spells, charms, and divination systems sound effortless. And when you try them you'll discover that they really are as easy as he says. You'll also learn that they can be as powerful as any other magic system in the world.
One of the things that interests us all is what the future holds. Will things go well? Will we get a new job? Will we get a new lover? In Earth Power, Cunningham shares many forms of divination. You can use soil, a piece of bark, the surface of a lake or pond, or even candles. The full instructions on how to do these and other divinations are in this book. Try them all out! I know you'll find one or more that works to bring you the information you need.
Of course, once you know about the future, what are you going to do about it? This book is also filled with charms and spells that can protect you and heal you. It may even be able to save your life!
"Run into a field and stick a knife into the ground, with the sharp edge of the blade facing the coming storm [tornado]. The knife is said to 'split the wind', so that your area will be spared."
I live in tornado country, so you need to be very careful. If you see a cyclone, run for cover! But if you hear on the news of one approaching, you might try this before you see the funnel. It could save your property and your life.
When you get this book you're going to find uses for it every day. It's amazing that such a small thing can give you such power. And with Earth Power, it can all be yours.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but about the rituals and spells..., January 8, 2000
By Anonymous (La-La Land) - See all my reviews
They are incredibly simple and, even though I hate to say it since Scott Cunningham is a great author, childish and superstitious. Most of the spells aren't really spells, just advice and suggestions.

For instance:

A Spell to Protect Loved Ones

Throw dirt or sand after friends and family once they leave your home without their noticing.

A Spell to Bind a Lover

Tie an article of their clothing with one of your own to keep your relationship thriving and happy.

See what I mean? The theories and information about various magickal techniques are worth the purchase, but don't buy it if you're just looking for magickal workings.

5.0 out of 5 stars Back To Nature, August 26, 1997
By A Customer
This is the book if expensive alter items, and highly elaborate rituals aren't for you. Scott Cunningham, focuses on using what's around us in the everyday world to create for us the results we desire. His straight to the point style, and endearing sense of humor make this a must read for those of us looking for true earth based magick. A wonderful resource, and a truly educational book

4.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderfully simplistic book! :), March 1, 2000
This book is definatly for great for people who like simplistic spells....they really aren't rituals. They are for those who are short on time. I really like how the books use a lot of emphasis on using the *EARTH* to help you. I am pagan and have learned it to mean that paganism is about *earth-religions* however most of the books I have read have very little to do with interacting with the nature outside and around us.
