Editorial Reviews

Review
"If the premise of "From Ashes to Healing" is true, then the pain and suffering of those who died in the Holocaust still throbs as significant psychic pain; even though the souls of these former victims have reincarnated into new bodies and new lives... Perhaps what was sown or experienced in past lives can influence future lives. At the very least, it gives us some food for thought. -- Donna Kenworthy, Southeastern Virginia Jewish News, February 28, 1997

"In this wonderful book, Rabbi Gershom and his fourteen fellow storytellers express the kind of unconditional love that can heal the soul memories of past lives, the anguish of those who continue to suffer in their present life... I wholeheartedly recommend this book." -- Brad Steiger, from the Preface

"The remarkable and multi-dimensional stories in "From Ashes to Healing" exude a most satisying sense of spiritual intimacy, as if touching the very threads out of which the cloth of soul is woven.' -- Amy Shapiro, Journal of Regression Therapy, December 1996

"These personal stories, together with Rabbi Gershom's own thoughts on Hitler, and whether or not he has repented in the afterlife, and Edgar Cayce's views on the Holocaust make this essential reading for everyone concerned about life, death, and man's inhumanity to man. And, of course, forgiveness." -- Roy Stemman

Product Description
In his sequel to Beyond the Ashes: Cases of Reincarnation from the Holocaust, Rabbi Yonassan Gershom brings together the stories of fourteen people who, despite their memories of having lived, and died, during the horror of the Holocaust, have achieved miraculous healing of body, mind, and spirit. As expressed by Brad Steiger, author of Returning from the Light, who wrote the preface to this book, "Rabbi Gershom and his fourteen fellow storytellers express the kind of unconditional love that can heal the painful soul memories of past lives ... and -- God willing -- the entire planet." All readers will find hope and inspiration from this collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a wonderful book!, June 21, 2000
To people who have Holocaust Memories, this book is like a candle in the dark! This is a must-read for anyone interested in Reincarnation or Holocaust issues, and if you could only read one book on this subject, I would recommend this one! Rabbi Gershom and the brave people who share their stories here have done us all a wonderful service.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Good Book That Leaves You Wanting More, March 8, 2001
By Kevin Barrack (San Mateo, CA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This was the first book I ever read about reincarnation, and it was a great place to start. Because the stories are each written by the people themselves, they offer a variety of styles and perspectives that provide a great overview of the issues of reincarnation, karma, and healing.

This book is passionately written. The stories, and commentary by Yonassan Gershom, are honest and not fanatical. There is a pointedly open-minded attitude in the presentation, which does not assume that the reader believes in reincarntion. However, by the end of it I found myself believing and wanting to learn more.

For a more scientific approach to the topic, try reading Old Souls, by Tom Shroder. For more detailed descriptions of reincarntion and the spirit world, as recovered through hypnosis, check out Journey of Souls, by Michael Newton.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!, February 2, 2000
By A Customer

This book and Rabbi Gershom's first book, "Beyond the Ashes," should really be sold together as a set. "From Ashes to Healing" completes the first book by giving us 15 beautiful first-person stories about healing Holocaust past-life trauma. I applaud the bravery of everyone in the book for sharing such personal things with the public.

Rabbi Gershom is much more than just a "compiler" in this work, though. The book includes some EXCELLENT chapters by the Rabbi himself, as well as very useful footnotes that he added to the articles afterward. Plus, he helped those contributors who are not professional writers to tell their stories.

But perhaps the greatest applause for Rabbi Gershom should be for his willingness to share his own story, too. There are very few books where rabbis are willing to write about their own spirituality. So it was refreshing to see Rabbi Gershom open his heart and share his frustrations, hopes, and dreams. The chapter on "Did the Soul of Hitler repent?" was especially moving, and a big risk for anybody -- let alone a rabbi! -- to write. So was the chapter on "The Circle of Torah," where the reader learns why Rabbi Gershom eventually retired from this work, and how that decision, too, was part of his own healing.
