Product Description
This is our ninth set of Happy, Healthy Pet titles. Like the others, they are books that pet owners can turn to for the essential information they need to raise a happy, healthy pet. All books contain information on:
  • feeding
  • grooming
  • housing
  • health care
  • what to expect from the pet
  • basic training
As our series expands and focuses on different kinds of pets, the emphasis remains on making the pet a companion. Owners of more unusual pets will particularly appreciate the expert advice in these books because professional care for exotic animals can be hard to come by. As always, the instruction in the books is from experts (people who know their pets intimately but always remember what it was like to have one the first time). Happy, Healthy Pet guides are rich with professional quality color photos and are designed to be enjoyable and easy to learn from.Conures are entertaining and agile birds with stunning colors. The unique characteristics of this bird have made them soar in popularity in recent years. Julie Rach, from Carlsbad, California, was an editor at Bird Talk magazine for several years.

From the Back Cover
Finally, a book with a contemporary approach to your pet that emphasizes total care, training and companionship! You'll not only discover the specific traits of Conures, you'll also learn what the world's like from your bird's perspective; how to feed and keep your bird healthy; and how to enjoy your Conure through training and activities you can do together. The Conure is written by an expert and includes personality traits and unique behaviors. It also addresses preventative health care, cage requirements, and nutritional requirements. Best of all, the book is filled with information-packed sidebars with fun facts that will enrich your interactions with your pet bird and make caring for it an easy and enjoyable experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Source for the New Bird Owner!, September 6, 1999
By A Customer
This was a great book! It answered so many questions and was very thorough and easy to understand. There were sections on choosing what type of Conure--if any--is best for you, feeding, houseing, understanding, health, personality, training, behavior modification, nutrition, and even answers about all of those "little things" your conure does! Also, many wonderful pictures. The best book I have read on Conures yet. The information was also provided for the single companion bird environment--where most others are geared to breeding and aviary set up and care! This should be your first choice if you must only get one book!

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY Helpful for potential owners, August 18, 2001
If you are considering becoming the owner of a Conure then I would strongly recommend reading this book. I was planning to become a Conure owner and this book raised a few doubts about whether a Conure was best for me or not. It was very enlightening; I learned a lot from it. For example: did you know that the sound of a vacuum cleaner excites Conures because it reminds them of a thunderstorm from the rainforest and that they will want to take a bath when they hear it? If you are planning on becoming a Conure owner, BUY THIS BOOK!

5.0 out of 5 stars Every Conure owner should have this book, December 28, 2001
By Kathleen K. Summers (Denville, NJ United States) - See all my reviews
My family and I have two parakeets and two cockatiels; they are such energetic members of the family and are so loved that we decided to add another bird - you guessed it, a conure. When we brought our Jenday conure home (at 12 weeks old), we had little knowledge of how to take care of a "larger" bird - that is, until we bought and read Julie Rach's fabulous book. It is written in such an easy, friendly style that it's almost addictive to read - and add to this all the up-to-the-minute information on care and proper diet - it's the Conure Bible! We don't hesitate for a moment to say - GO OUT AND GET THIS BOOK!! You and your conure(s) will be glad you did!
