5.0 out of 5 stars A Prophetic Book and Diagnosis of the U.S. Government, March 12, 2006
Lawrence Dennis THE DYNAMICS OF WAR AND REVOLUTION can be viewed as the last book of a trilogy. Dennis had previously written IS CAPITALISM DOOMED (1932) and THE COMING OF AMERICAN FASCISM (1936). Dennis knew that by 1940 that the New Deal was a failure, and the economic and social pressures favoring war were part of the New Dealers' attempt to end serious unemployment.

Dennis diagnosed the economic situation late in the New Deal, and he was clear that the New Deal programs were not the economic generator the New Dealers, including FDR, had hope for. Dennis asserted that the New Dealers would resort to war and military conscription as an unemployment blotter to solve the problems of the New Deal.

Dennis was also clear that the New Dealers needed a scapegoat to explain previous New Deal failures. Readers should know that there were about as many Americans unemployed in 1938 as there were in 1932 which was the year that FDR won the presidential election. Dennis accurately predicted that with the failure of the New Deal, the political and economic "dynamics" now favored war to establish full employment.

Dennis has interesting statements regarding scapegoats. In spite of slurs and smears of Dennis being a spokesman for Fascism and National Socialism, Dennis compared Hitler's scapegoating of Jews with the New Dealers scapegoating the Germans for all the economic problems during the latter stages of the the New Deal failures. One should note that Dennis is clear how stupid and counterproductive anti-Semitism was. As an aside, Dennis was accused of being a "racist" whatever that has come to mean these days. Dennis was born to a mulatto mother and was raised by mullatoes in Georgia. Those who smeared Dennis obviously did not read his books and knew little or nothing about him. In fact, Dennis called those who expressed hatred of Jews, ethnic minorities, etc., as "The Dumb Right."

While Dennis accurately predicted U.S. entry into World War II, he was also opposed to it. He did not think the Americans had any interersts in the outcome of World War II which he also accurately predicted would benefit Big Communism.

Dennis had little patience with the "free market" lads who whined that their "economic freedom" was imposed upon. He cited brief examples of how the wealthy had benefitted by government subsides, tariffs, protectionist policies, and any other government welfare for the rich schemes which they enjoyed. He honestly stated that the days of capitalist expansion were over, and there had to be some government policy about mitigating high interest rates and the problmes of over production. In effect, Dennis stated that Americans' endorsement of a government managed economy was in effect a fascist policy. In other words, the Americans loved everything about fascism except the name.

While Dennis argued against U.S. entry into World War II, he realized that this was the desparate path that FDR and the New Dealers would follow to escape the failures of the New Deal. Dennis was the "incorrputable realist" whose work was well written, terse and accurate. THE DYNAMICS OF WAR AND REVOLUTION is a book that should be read to have a clearer understanding of how poltical power actually works.
