Radon is a radioactive gas produced in the ground through the natural decay of radium, found in high concentrations in natural environmental materials. But if it is trapped inside a house, especially an energy-efficient house, radon gas can cause serious health problems. Millions of houses may be affected. This up-to-date book is intended as a guide for concerned homeowners. It thoroughly covers both testing procedures and practical solutions. It gives very useful information on state and federal programs and Ra-testing services, with addresses and contacts. The book is well organized and generally readable, although at times too alarmist.
