4.0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun!, October 22, 2004

(TOP 50 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
N4: Treasure Hunt is an AD&D (1st edition) adventure module for four to six characters of level zero to one. That's right, this module is designed to take characters that are first set up as everyday people, and turn them into adventurers. The story begins with the characters seized by slavers, and then shipwrecked on a small island. Two groups of pirates, orcs and goblins, are battling it out, and it is up to the characters to not only survive, but thrive. If they use their brains, and develop their abilities they will come out of this module as seasoned adventures, but if they don't then turn to the If Things Go Wrong section.

This module is a lot of fun, and a good way to start out players who are unfamiliar with the AD&D system. Now, as you might expect from a module designed for zero-level characters, this module demands stealth and caution, rather than frontal assaults and battles to the death. I enjoyed running this adventure, and have kept the Korinn Archipelago setting as part of the campaign setting. My players and I highly recommend this module to you; we deeply enjoyed it.

By the way, if you plan on running this module, it's a good idea to follow it up with N5: Under Illefarn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Groundbreaking fun!, December 11, 2001
By Lavode (Sacramento, CA USA) - See all my reviews
For the first time, 1st ed. AD&D has rules on how to start a character from ZERO level! That's right, you start as normal people with jobs and then through the course of play, they become adventuring PCs! This is a fantastic way to start first time characters, or start a whole new campain! The module plays very well, and the Zero level rules can be adapted to start ANY character regardless of what module you play.
